My name is Darren, I started out in 1984 at a youth club in Castle Bromwich by providing the music 3-4 nights a week.

1986 - I was covering paid events gaining valuable experience in DJ’ing performing at Christenings, Birthdays and even a few Weddings. 

1987 - saw me work with well-established mobile DJs  learning many tricks of the trade, back in those days records were still in high demand, CD was in it's infancy, DJ's hid behind a massive wall of light boxes full of many different coloured bulbs, and patterns.

1988 -  I set up my own mobile disco (Diamond Sounds Disco), and kept on expanding that already extensive record collection. During the 1990's I worked in many local pubs, social clubs and often covered quiz nights, as well as promotional or themed events. We became Distinctive Sounds during the 1990's.

Whilst I started in the 80's with one small case of vinyl records today, today my complete music collection which is far more extensive than back then is now stored on an even smaller item, a hard drive.

I am well versed in all aspects of mobile disco's, in addition I have previously worked in conferencing and theatre working on lighting, sound and special effects. I have also worked on events for companies such as Cadburys, Coca Cola, the Birmingham Hippodrome, and Central TV. For the last 20+ years I've also held a full time in the civil / public service, currently in an national role for a key infrastructure organisation.

In my DJ capacity I have worked in many different venues from small village halls, public houses, to large hotels and conference centres such as the the VOX at world resort Birmingham( where I was the , ICC, and Edgbaston Cricket ground, and having therefore gained experience in virtually every type of event. As I mentioned earlier I have run themed nights, promotional events, quiz nights and worked on outdoor events such as BRMB walkathon, and Sutton Coldfield Carnival. Even when give a specific music themed night such as music only from 1992, I have been able to rise to the challenge and exceed the clients expectations!

I have gained an excellent reputation, am reliable, and receive excellent client feedback. Over the last few years, I has also become one of the first DJs called upon to cover or provide DJ services to several other Midlands based mobile disco and event providers.
